Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Styles Horton, 85, of Clarkesville, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Christ Presbyterian Church in Demorest, with the Rev. Hobie Wood officiating. Burial followed in Hillside Gardens in Clarkesville.

Mrs. Horton died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Nov. 30, 1927, in Burnsville, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Julia Honeycutt Styles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Horton lived in Smyrna for many years and resided in Clarkesville for the last 30 years. She was a sales technician for many years with Rich’s Department Store and retired after 12 years with the Old Sautee Store in Sautee-Nacoochee. Mrs. Horton was actively involved with various projects with the ladies of Christ Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for many years. She was a wonderful seamstress and avid reader. Mrs. Horton was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Bill Horton of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Julia H. and Greg Satterfield, son and daughter-in-law, Steven Dudley and Dani Horton, all of Smyrna; son, William David Horton of Clarkesville; sister, Clara Culberson of Asheville, N.C.; brothers and sister-in-laws, Walter and Myrtice Styles of Black Mountain, N.C., Jay Hugh and Ruby Styles of Burnsville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
