Funeral services for Erwin T. Bennett, 66, of Homer, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Sept. 12, at Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Benfield and the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bennett died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Banks County.

Mr. Bennett was a truck driver with Walpole and Curt’s Towing, having been known as “Hip,” or “Vern.” Mr. Bennett enjoyed riding four wheelers, watching NASCAR, football and UFC fighting. He was a member of Line Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Brenda Jean Bennett.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Peggy Chambers Bennett of Homer; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Casey Bennett and Joey and Kimberley Bennett, all of Homer; son, Mitchell Bennett of Cleveland; daughter, Tammy Sissum of Cleveland; parents, Noyl and Paralee Wade Goodson of Alto; sisters, Linda Hix and Claydean Coker, both of Alto; grandchildren, Bryce and Jace Bennett, Ayden and Adalynn Bennett, Candice, Paige, Layla and Kerry; and one great-grandchild.
