Funeral services for Ada Mae Glaze Watkins, 79, of Cornelia, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Zion Interdenominational Church with Rev. Gary Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Watkins died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011.

Born Sept. 5, 1932, in White County, she was a daughter of the late Lester C. and Nezzie Mae House Glaze. Mrs. Watkins was also preceded in death by her husband, James Vernon Watkins; her brothers, Vernon, Rondall, B.L. and A.J. Glaze; and her sisters, Arlene Lane and Ruby Cantrell London.

She was retired from Ethicon, a Johnson and Johnson Company, after 34-1/2 years of service. Mrs. Watkins was a member of Zion Interdenominational Church. She taught Sunday School for 50 years, as well as Bible school and youth camp.

Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Miriam Watkins of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, James and Victoria Watkins of Oahu, Hawaii; sisters, Everine Glaze Tomlin of Mt. Airy and Jo Glaze Barrett of Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Nell Glaze of Cleveland; and grandchildren, Victor Watkins of Cornelia, and Christopher, Meri and Liz Loo, all of Oahu, Hawaii.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin.

The body will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
