Funeral services for Al Francani, 73, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Clarkesville, with Deacon Gary Roche officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest, with full military honors by the United States Air Force. The funeral procession was escorted by The Patriot Guard.

Mr. Francani died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, following an extended illness.

Born March 9, 1941, in Aliquippa, Pa., he was a son of the late Ernesto and Ida Di Fricha Francani.

He was a retired major with the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of loyal and dedicated service to his country, including service during the Vietnam conflict. After his military career, Mr. Francani owned and operated Francani & Associates and was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Lou Francani of Clarkesville; daughters, Elissa Benjamin of Dawsonville, Christine Scott of Raleigh, N.C; son, Anthony Francani of Mableton; brother, Dino Francani of Clearwater, Fla.; and grandchildren, Will Benjamin, Addie Scott, Braydon Scott and Josie Scott.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, (woundedwarriorproject.org), in the memory of Mr. Al Francani.

Arrangements are in the care of Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest.
