Funeral services for Charles Edward Moore, 69, of Mt. Airy, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Roy Bainey and the Rev. Stanley Robertson officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest with full military honors provided by Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720, Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 15 and the Georgia National Guard.

Mr. Moore died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

Born July 10, 1942, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Lucy Ann Nix Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roland and Carrie Grant Moore.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked in the logging industry for many years. Affectionately known as Papa, Mr. Moore was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Myloe L. Moore of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Chani M. and Rodney J. Scott of Mooresville, N.C.; son, Edward “Pete” Moore of Mt. Airy; sister, Selva Jean Dorsey of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Efford Kimbrell of Demorest; brother, Rex Nix of Locust Grove; cousin (reared in home) and wife, Stanley and Kay Robertson of Daphne, Ala.; grandchildren, Erika Scott of Mooresville, N.C., Jackson Scott of Toccoa, Cody Wade and wife, Lindsey, of Clarkesville, Megan Ramey of Mt. Airy, McKenzie Moore of Mt. Airy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
