A memorial service for Charlie “Jerry” Adams, 54, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and formerly of Demorest, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia.

Mr. Adams died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Grand Strand Medical Center following a sudden illness.

A native of Habersham County, he was born Dec. 31, 1957, to the late John “Jug” and Lavaughan Martin Adams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Jewel Adams.

Mr. Adams worked in construction for most of his life and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Benton Adams of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Kevin Posten of Alto; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Garvice Thomas of Demorest, Janie and Marvin Wade of Hiawassee; sisters-in-law, Kathy Moreland and Polly Wade, both of Demorest; mother-in-law, Eileen Benton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brother-in-law, Phillip Benton of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Kelly Kletch of Illinois; grandchildren, Jessie Posten, Chase Coker, Tiffany and Shane Posten; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service hour.
