Mr. Church went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Mountain Lakes Medical Center, Clayton.
Born March 2, 1922, in Clarkesville, he was the son of the late George Thomas Church and Essie Emma Whitworth Church. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Burrell Church; brothers, Arvil, Ralph, Aubrey, Nimmo and Elmer Church; and sisters, Polly Church and Oma Lee Skelton.
Mr. Church loved the Lord and was a member of the Clarkesville Baptist Church since 1947. He was the owner and operator of Church Tire Company and Church Paving Company for many years.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Phyllis Head, Mervin Lovell, Berry and Anthony Church, Doris Ford, Oleine Finley of Anniston, Ala.; several other nieces and nephews from Clarkesville and members of Dorothy’s family in Rabun County; two special friends and caregivers, Brenda Lunsford and Darlene Carver. Mr. Church was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
