Funeral services for Floyd Lee Sellers Jr., 76, of Cornelia, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Grace Baptist Church, Cornelia, with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty, the Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell and the Rev. Phillip Yarber officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard, followed in Level Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Telford Tanksley officiating.

Mr. Sellers lost his battle to cancer on Oct. 19, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

Born March 20, 1937, in Habersham County, he was the only son of the late Floyd Lee Sellers Sr. and Flora Bell Ansley Sellers. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arlin and Cleo Jameson Franklin.

Mr. Sellers was of the Baptist faith. He served in the Army National Guard Reserve and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Mr. Sellers was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather (“Pop”). His most enjoyable times were spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his beloved family, traveling with his wife and listening to Southern Gospel music. His love for people and laughter will be remembered by his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy Franklin Sellers of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Harold Lewallen of Toccoa, Cindy and Todd Matthews of Clarkesville, Fonda and Jon Lundy of Baldwin; granddaughters (his “little dolls”) Peyton Matthews, Hannah and Sarah Lundy; his precious grandsons, Parker Matthews and Evan Lewallen; brothers-in-law and their wives, Kenneth and Marilyn Franklin of Cleveland, Johnny and Karen Franklin of Mt. Airy, Douglas and Jimmi Sue Franklin of Clarkesville; brother-in-law, Ernest Franklin of Mt. Airy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine and Ray Rice of Cornelia, Evelyn and Howard Evelyn Thomas of Mt. Airy; sister, Joyce Glore of Cornelia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
