Mrs. Hooper died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at her residence following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 3, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Ella Smith Wood. She was a lifelong resident of Habersham County. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Hooper; sons, Lamar Hooper and Don Odell Hooper; sister, Gertrude Smith; granddaughter, Johnita Lynn Robinson; and great-grandson, Jason Mote.
Mrs. Hooper was retired from Outerwear Manufacturing and also served as a cook at LaPrade’s. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, yard work and talking on the phone.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gertrude and Jerry Carroll of the Batesville Community and Iva Lea and S.C. Robinson of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, J.D. and Rutheleen Hooper of Demorest and Gerald and Ruth Hooper of Cleveland; sisters, Pauline Morrison, Eunice Allen and Lougene Wall, all of the Batesville Community, Katrina Robertson of Cornelia and Estelle Adams of Clarkesville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
