Memorial services for Joanne Marguerite Smith, 80, of Demorest, will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 7, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Clarkesville. Inurnment will follow in VFW Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Feb. 2, 1934, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Daniel D. and Catherine Murphy McGachie. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Smith.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and was previously employed with Walmart. She also volunteered with Sharing and Caring and worked with the Ladies Auxiliary at Habersham Medical Center.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Ann Smith of Demorest and Terri Renshaw of Toccoa; brother, Richard Rice of Demorest; grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Amanda Renshaw of Toccoa and Joanne and John Hughes IV of Demorest; great-grandchild, Jaeden; and special friend, Lloyd Estep of Cornelia.

In lieu of flowers: The family requests that you tell the ones you love that you love them, because you just might not know when it will be the last time.
