John ‘Eddie’ Pruitt

Funeral services for John “Eddie” Pruitt, 48, of Cornelia, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Burial followed in Level Grove Cemetery with military honors provided.

Mr. Pruitt died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at his residence.

Born Sept. 20, 1964, in Demorest, he was the son of Fannie Mae Mote of Demorest and the late Hillard Osborn Pruitt. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Scott Pruitt.

Eddie was employed with the United States Postal Service with 14 years of service. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of Demorest Baptist Church. Eddie was a loving father and husband.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Tracey Shedd Pruitt; daughter, Hallie Pruitt; and son, Jordan Pruitt, all of Cornelia; sisters, Hilda Pruitt of Cornelia, Barbara Foster of Mt. Airy, and Gale Weaver of Demorest; brothers, Gene Pruitt of Carlsbad, N.M., and Patrick Pruitt of Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews.
