John C. Tatum

Funeral services for John C. Tatum, 91, of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Don Drawdy and the Rev. John Roddy officiating. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery.

Mr. Tatum died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, with his loving family by his side.

Born Nov. 30, 1921, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Vasco and Mary Allen Tatum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Brady Tatum, Jack Tatum and Alonzo Tatum. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Tatum was a United States Army Air Corps veteran, having served during World War II and he was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer and he was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Allen Tatum of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Gerald Kastner of Clarkesville and Carolyn and the Rev. John Roddy of Marietta; grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Pam Kastner, Lori and James Irvin; grandchildren, Elizabeth Roddy, Tyler Roddy, Andrew Roddy, and Katherine Roddy; and great-grandchildren, C.J. and Kelley Kastner and Kaley and Emily Irvin.
