Memorial services for Julian Lee Garrett, 72, of Mt. Airy, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Hillside Memorial Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, from 1-4 p.m.

Mr. Garrett died Jan. 25, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Born Sept. 28, 1941, in Hiawassee, he was the son of the late Horace and Callie Nations Garrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Garrett.

Mr. Garrett was a farmer and he was retired with 30 years of loyal service from Mt. Vernon Mills, where he worked in the card room. In his spare time, Mr. Garrett enjoyed gardening and spending time with his loving family. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Wheeler Garrett; granddaughter, Julie Deleon and husband Roman; grandson, Shann Franklin and wife Rebekah; great-granddaughters, Kaylie Whitfield Brookshire and husband Blake Brookshire, and Katelyn Whitfield; and great-grandsons, Corey Whitfield and Asher Julian Franklin.
