Funeral services for Lawrence Jeffery Eller, 59, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at New Liberty United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alton Burrell and the Rev. Charles Black officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Eller died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at his residence following a sudden illness.

Born Nov. 28, 1952, Mr. Eller was a lifelong native of Habersham County. He was the son of the late Theodore Mackinley “Mack” and Margaret Dorsey Eller.

Mr. Eller was a United States Army veteran, having served during Vietnam, and he was a self-employed farmer. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Deep Creek Fire Department for more than 25 years. Mr. Eller was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his brother, Horace Eller (Nedra); sisters, Sarah Eller, Stella Ward and Nora Palmer, all of Clarkesville; nephews, Tim Berry, Bruce Palmer, Stacey Berry and Tom Eller, all of Clarkesville; niece, Vonda Eller Brown of Clarkesville; special friend, Lynn Trotter of Clarkesville; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
