Funeral services for Lemuel Thay Pruitt, 77, of Clarkesville, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Brown and Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Pruitt died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, following a period of declining health.

Born Aug. 19, 1935, in Dawsonville, he was the son of the late Ore Pruitt and Inez English Pruitt. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Smith.

For several years he owned and operated Mud Creek Grocery and was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Pruitt of Clarkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Suzanne Pruitt of Buford, Mike and Cindy Pruitt of Cumming; son, Scott Pruitt of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Frank Freeman of Gainesville; stepchildren, Margaret Harkins of Cleveland, Martha Nichols of Cleveland, Sylvia Tench of Mt. Airy, Patricia Farmer of Clermont, Brad Farmer of Dawsonville, Joe Farmer of Norcross, and Jeff Farmer of Norcross; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Allen Roper of Gainesville; as well as 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
