Graveside services are scheduled for noon today, Aug. 15, at The Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. The Rev. Ronnie Glaze will be officiating.
Mr. Brock died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at his home following an extended illness.
Born June 18, 1931, in Clarke County, he was a son of the late Nicholas V. and Rosa Mae Alexander Brock. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Delorise Glaze Brock; son, Alton Carr Brock Jr.; and brother, Alex Brock.
Mr. Brock was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, where he served as an elder and trustee. He was also the founder of Cornelia United Methodist Church Youth Center. Mr. Brock held several offices at the Cherokee Gun Club.
He was a retired United States Air Force lieutenant colonel with 28 years of service. Mr. Brock was an EOD commander in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star. He formerly served with the Georgia Department of Veteran Services. Mr. Brock was the first magistrate court judge in Habersham County. He was a former member of the Habersham County Wall of Honor for Veterans Committee.
Survivors include his loving wife of seventeen years, Doris Hanes Brock of Cornelia; daughter, Lauren Drake Spratlin, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Westmoreland of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Adam and Kayla Westmoreland of Mt. Airy, Candice and Justin Fisher of Toccoa, Brandi D. Howell of Toccoa; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Parker and Bailey Bramlett, Chandler and Mackenzie Howell.
