A memorial service for Marion Lucille Card, 87, of Cornelia, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia.

Mrs. Card died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, following an extended illness.

Born Jan. 1, 1927, in Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth Card. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Jenkins; and brothers, Dale Card and Leonard Card.

Ms. Card was a caregiver for many years. She was a very independent woman who enjoyed crafting, walking, fishing, cooking and building things from scratch. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Ms. Card attended The Dwelling Place Church and was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Etoyle and Gary Norris of Independence, Ky.; sister, Patsy Childers of Texas; grandchildren, Lisa and Patrick Sloan of Cornelia, Laurie Parks of Ball Ground, Pennie and Calvin Keith of Asheville, N.C., Scott Norris of Independence, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Caleb Sloan, Aaron Sloan, Rodney Parks, Carolyn Ann Parks, Ashton Parks, all of Cornelia, Schon Keith of Asheville, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
