Funeral services for Mary Willow Chambers Hood, 94, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Verner London, the Rev. Chris York and the Rev. Dave Fortner officiating. Burial followed in Chattahoochee Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Hood died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at The Oaks at Scenic View.

Born March 7, 1918, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Nora McEntire Chambers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hood; a son, Leon Hood; a brother, Haskel Chambers; and sisters, Nella Holcomb, Carolyn Crane and Marie Dillard.

Mrs. Hood was employed by Scovill and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Mary Frances and Bill Jarrard of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Stephanie Hood of Stockbridge; brother and sister-in-law, Orem and Jessie Lou Chambers of Cleveland; sisters, Ruth Fortenberry of Demorest, Evelyn Wilson of North Carolina and Blanche Carpenter of North Augusta, S.C.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
