Funeral services for Myrna Joyce Morris, 69, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the National Guard, the American Legion Post No. 84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter No. 15, and the Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720.

Mrs. Morris died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Atlanta Medical Center from a sudden illness.

Born July 30, 1943, in Augusta, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Louise Cranfield Morris.

She was a United States Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mrs. Morris retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce “Missy” Lin Long of Louisiana; sister and brother-in-law, Virgil L. and Emmett Stephenson of Alto; brother, Charles Morris of Kansas City, Mo.; one granddaughter, Kayla Lynn Long; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at noon Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
