Funeral services for Pearl Gibson Tomlin, 72, of Cornelia, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris York officiating. Burial followed in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Chad Holcomb officiating.

Mrs. Tomlin died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born July 14, 1939, in Rabun County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Donnie Nation Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel House; and brothers, Gerald Gibson, Paul Gibson, Charlie Gibson and Bill Gibson.

Mrs. Tomlin was employed for a number of years at The Oaks at Scenic View, attended New Hope Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Pearl was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Thurlow Tomlin of the home; son, David Tomlin of Cornelia; daughters, Carol Smith of Clarkesville, Connie McKie of Cornelia, Jill Tomlin of Cornelia; brothers, Earl Gibson of Clarkesville, Ernest Gibson; sisters, Hazel Nation of Demorest, Betty Winkler of Demorest, Carolyn Martin of Clarkesville; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
