Mr. Loonam died July 7, 2014, at his home with family by his side.
He was born Jan. 29, 1933.
Originally from Freeport, N.Y., Peter had a life full of international travel as an art director/producer for McCann Erickson with his main client Coca-Cola. Upon his return from Japan, on assignment for McCann, Peter decided to retire to follow his passion for painting.
He and his wife Nancy opened the Peter S. Loonam Art Gallery and Frame Shop in Bridgehampton, N.Y. After many years in the Hamptons, they felt it was time to move on and they settled in Cambridge, Md., where he continued his life’s work as a successful artist/painter. Many years later, he and Nancy decided it was time to be closer to the “kids,” so they made the move to Demorest.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Platt; her husband, George Platt; and three grandsons, Sean-Patrick Loonam Platt, Kevin Peters and Steven Peters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to bestfriends.org.
