Funeral services for Porter Welborn, 90, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Welborn died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.

Born Feb. 22, 1922, in White County, he was the son of the late James Franklin and Laura Nichols Welborn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Ivie Welborn; great-grandson, Riker Sanchez; five sisters; and five brothers.

Mr. Welborn was a United States Army World War II veteran. He was a retired letter carrier with 25 years of service. Mr. Welborn was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Jim Robinson of Braselton; two grandchildren and spouses, Sonya and Gary Sanchez, Ward and Anika Robinson; and three great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family.

Memorials may be made in loving appreciation to the Care Givers, c/o Mimi Brantley, 504 Highway 441 N., Demorest, GA 30535.
