Funeral services for Robert Paul Parsons, 80, of Simpsonville, S.C., formerly of Cleveland, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at Yonah View Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Parsons died Tuesday, July 1, 2014.

Born Jan. 28, 1934, in Miami, Fla., he was the son of the late Paul and Phyliss Stevens Parsons. He also was preceded in death by his son, Craig Parsons.

He was retired from the Miami (Fla.) Police Department after 25 years serving as a police officer and a homicide detective, was formerly employed as a deputy sheriff with the White County Sheriff’s Department and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He also was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Center Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Parsons of Simpsonville, S.C.; daughters, Dee Dee Edwards of Colorado and Melissa Klawitter of South Carolina; sons, Brad Parsons of Newnan, and Paul Tritsch of South Carolina; sister, Paula Pambianco of California; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
