Funeral services for Shirley Tyler Shedd, 58, of Demorest, were held Saturday, March 9, at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Clayton with the Rev. Anthony Rabern and the Rev. Alvin Burns officiating. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery in Tiger.

Mrs. Shedd died Wednesday, March 6, 2013.

Born Sept. 4, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Sambo Giles and Margaret Jean Tyler Worley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Roy Williams, and her beloved grandparents, Samuel and Genie Bell Tyler.

Mrs. Shedd spent her life in the healthcare profession and taking care of others. She had been a nurse at the old Rabun County Memorial Hospital and Ridgecrest Hospital for several years and she also worked at Tara Plantation and Compassionate Hospice. Shirley was a four-year cancer survivor and will be remembered by her family and many friends for being a loving caregiver and her willingness to take care of others. Mrs. Shedd was a member of Harvest Bible Fellowship Church in Clarkesville.

Mrs. Shedd is survived by her loving husband, Charles Edward “Eddie” Shedd of the home; a brother, Gary Worley of Cornelia; two sisters, Lydia Worley Wilkinson of Toccoa and Denise Worley Dover of Clarkesville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
