Mrs. Burns died Oct. 28, 2012, at her residence.
Born Sept. 11, 1941, in Hall County, she was a daughter of the late William and Izora Garner Shockley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Delmus, Eugene, Dennis, Clifford and J.C. Shockley; sisters, Flora Sosebee, Willisee Garrett and Carlene Boggus.
Mrs. Burns was a member of Glory Bound Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed the Atlanta Braves and playing video games.
Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Nelson Burns of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Lawanda Lynn and Kevin Hulsey of Cohutta, and Rhonda and Jason Stamey of Cornelia; adopted son, Glenn Kelley of Clayton; brother, Homer Shockley of Lula; sisters, Betty Savage of Ware Shoals, S.C., Aetna Ivester of Clarkesville and Gaynelle Hooper of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Chris Hulsey and Nate Stamey.
