Funeral services for Virgil Marlow Loudermilk, 82, of Mt. Airy, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Ken Phillips and Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment followed in the Eastview Cemetery in Mt Airy.

Mr. Loudermilk died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Habersham County on Sept. 9, 1929, he was a son of the late Dewey and Laura LaCount Loudermilk. Mr. Loudermilk was a member of the Mt. Airy Baptist Church and retired from the City of Mt. Airy where he served as the Chief of Police. After his retirement he served as city manager and consultant for the City of Mt. Airy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Doug Loudermilk; five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Keller Loudermilk of Mt. Airy; daughter, Jeanette Loudermilk; sons, Danny loudermilk of Clayton, Ronnie “Bones” Loudermilk of Mt. Airy, James Loudermilk of Toccoa; brother, Telford Loudermilk; sisters, Wallace Craven of Mt. Airy, Henrietta Faulkner of Mt. Airy, Lois Keller of Mt. Airy and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
