Funeral services for Virginia Sutton Trotter, 93, of Clarkesville, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. David Turner and the Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Burial followed in Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Trotter died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at a local care facility.

Born March 7, 1920, in Sautee-Nacoochee, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Jennie Elder Sutton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Sutton, Bernice Warren and Lorene Martin, and brothers, J.L., Bobby and Earl Sutton.

Ms. Trotter was a retired cosmetologist with 45 years of service. She was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and John Ayer of Waynesville, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchell and Donna Trotter of Cornelia, and Wayne and Barbara Trotter of Carlton; son, Gerald Trotter of Ringgold; sister, Minnie Waldrip of Sautee-Nacoochee; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 922 East Morris Street, Dalton, GA 30721.
