William Boyd ‘Hoppy’ Barrett

Memorial services for William Boyd “Hoppy” Barrett, 60, of Cornelia, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Oct. 7, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Casper officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the service hour today, Oct. 7.

Mr. Barrett died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at his residence.

Born March 18, 1951, in Towns County, he was the son of the late Boyd and Faye Abernathy Barrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Hales.

Mr. Barrett was employed with Gamco as a welder and was of the Christian faith. He had lived most of his life in Habersham County.

Survivors include sons, Paxton Barrett of Athens and Gary Ramey of Demorest; daughters, Tabitha Barrett of Athens, Trisha Barrett of Demorest and Brittney Barrett of Homer; sisters, Nita Ivester of Turnerville and Rita Thomann of Ellenwood; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
