Mrs. Gerrells died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Habersham Medical Center.
Born Oct. 18, 1923, in White County, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Dellia Viola Freeman Pilgrim. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lamar Gerrells; twin daughters, Brenda and Linda Gerrells; sisters, Dovie Pilgrim and Cora Kinsey; and brothers, Robert, Hamp and Lester Pilgrim.
Mrs. Gerrells was a native and lifelong resident of White County. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and attended Mt. Vernon Holiness Church. Mrs. Gerrells was a homemaker who enjoyed visiting the senior center and spending time with her friends. She loved the Lord and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, Ray Gerrells of Mt. Airy, Dan Gerrells of Cornelia, Ed Gerrells of Clarkesville, Bill Gerrells of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Reneé Gerrells of Gainesville; daughters, Lillie Ash of Cornelia and Sara Moore of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Jerry Johnson of Cleveland; sister, Lonia Gunter of Demorest; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 5-9 p.m. today, Nov. 9.
