Funeral services for Sallie Lou Adams Church, 94, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, with the Rev. Russ Barker and Joel Williams officiating. Burial was in Clarkesville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Church died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011.

Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late W.W. and Maude Taylor Adams and was the widow of Aubrey Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Herbert Church; son-in-law, Morris Williams; brothers, Hilton, Vermon and Taylor Adams; and sister, Helen Scott.

Mrs. Church was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, where she was a very active member in her earlier years. She retired from North Georgia Technical College with 10 years of service and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Williams of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Laverne and David Chamberlin of Gainesville, and Janet and Jerry Taylor of Demorest; daughter-in-law, Linda Bowling Church of Demorest; son, Phillip Church of Clarkesville; sisters, Susan Jewel Howe of Watkinsville, and Mary Ann Young of Conyers; sister-in-law, Louise Adams of Demorest; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special caregivers, Pam Lovell, Mary McNulty and Barbara Caudell.
