Burice Bowden Waters

Funeral services for Burice Bowden Waters, 92, of Clarkesville were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at Hillside Chapel, Clarkesville, with the Rev. Furman Lewis and the Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Waters died Feb. 18, 2012.

Born Sept. 11, 1919, in Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Dillard and Laura Stevens Bowden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Waters; son, Earl “Bud” Waters; daughter-in-law, Sue Wooten Waters; sister, Jessie Bowden; and brothers, Bascomb Bowden, Boone Bowden and Lamar Bowden. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Waters was a lifelong farmer.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Martha W. and Gordon Adams of Clarkesville, Jeannie and Tony Cochran of Oakwood; son, E. Eugene Waters of Clarkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Leola Waters and Joey and Ginger Waters, all of Clarkesville; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as caretakers Joy Baker and Pam Lovell.
