Leco Armour

Funeral services for Leco Armour, 102 of Alto, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Feb. 29, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Lester Haynes, the Rev. Brandon South and the Rev. John Dubois officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Anglican Church Cemetery.

Mr. Armour died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, following a recent illness.

Born Feb. 22, 1910, in Hall County, he was the son of Ben and Kezzie Kate Davidson Armour. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Polly Waters Armour; daughter and son-in-law, Geneva A. and J.C. Wade; sons, Perry and Taft Armour; son-in-law, Lloyed Wade; daughters-in-law, Wanda J., Beluah L. and Barbara O. Armour; and grandson, Donald Armour. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

Mr. Armour was of the Holiness Faith. He was a farmer, a saw miller and avid coon hunter.

Survivors include daughters, Imogene A. Wade of Demorest, and Patsy Armour of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Michael Ferguson, Doris and Walter Jones, all of Alto, and Joydean and Jerry Martin of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Rose Armour, Ralph and Faye Armour, all of Alto, and L.J. and Marie Armour of Cornelia; daughter-in-law, Montine D. Armour of Alto; 30 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family.
