Eddie ‘Bluestick’ Pruitt

Funeral services for Eddie Pruitt (also known as “Bluestick”), 54, of Cornelia, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Don Scott, the Rev. Robin Martin and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Pruitt died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, as a result of a heart attack.

He was born Sept. 28, 1957, in Stephens County. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Pruitt.

Mr. Pruitt was a truck driver and drove more than four million miles without an accident. He was a graduate of Stephens County High School and attended North Georgia Technical College. Mr. Pruitt attended The Rock of Habersham and Gateway Community Chapel.

Survivors include wife, Cathy Morris Pruitt of Cornelia; son, Blake Pruitt of Athens; stepsons, John Dodson, Jason Dodson and his wife Alexia, both of Cornelia; parents, William H. and Sandra Mobley Pruitt of Toccoa; brother, Marvin Pruitt of Colbert; one granddaughter, Madison Dodson; nephew, Kevin Pruitt; niece, Mary Taylor Pruitt; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; and his best friend and K-9, Major Pruitt.
