Funeral services for Sammie Lee “Sam” Echols, 68, of Lula, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Raymond Payne and Rev. Bobby Griffin officiating.

Burial will follow in Belton Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Echols died on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

Born on April 26, 1944, in Hall County, he was a son of the late Lee and Bonnie Mae Pierce Echols. He was an employee of the Jaemor Farm Market and formerly employed with Habersham Hardware for a number of years. Mr. Echols was a member of the Belton Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce Norris Echols of Lula; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Echols Arrowood and Jerry Arrowood of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Teri Echols of Lula; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Echols Smith and Larry Smith of Gainesville; brother, Dale Echols of Lula; five grandchildren; aunts, Bobbie Slaton of Oakwood, Shirley Canada of Gainesville and Faye Kehely of Atlanta; uncle, Cohen Pierce of Gainesville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 8 at the funeral home.
