Funeral services for James P. Bellamy, 86, of Baldwin, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Baldwin Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Brown, the Rev. Frank Sailers, the Rev. Mike Campbell and David Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Baldwin City Cemetery.

Mr. Bellamy died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Sept. 14, 1925, in Banks County, he was a son of the late Emmitt P. and Gladys McDuffie Bellamy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Coker, and his brothers, Roger Bellamy and C.T. Bellamy.

Mr. Bellamy was a retired employee of Chicopee Manufacturing Company with more than 40 years of service. He was a faithful member of Baldwin Baptist Church for 50 years. Mr. Bellamy served as a deacon and was the president of Claud’s Class for more than 20 years.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 65 years, Kathleen Mathis Bellamy of Baldwin; daughter, Vickie Fowler of Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and David Sanders of Baldwin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Francine and Chandler Ward of Cornelia, Shirley and Leon Wilkinson of Cornelia, and Pat and Billy Trotter of Alto; sister, Ruth Barrett of Alto; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buck and Carolyn Bellamy of Mt. Airy, and Bob and Joyce Bellamy of Baldwin; brother-in-law and his wife, Omer Ray and Opal Coker of Alto; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bellamy of Baldwin; grandchildren, Alison B. Brown of Baldwin, Amy and her husband, Stuart Sugg, of Winterville, N.C., and Becky and her husband, Kevin Lomax, of Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Noah Sugg, Addie Brown, and Bailey Lomax; and a number of nieces and nephews.
