Funeral services for Katherine Sperring Strahan English, 96, of Clarkesville, and formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. English died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.

Born April 6, 1916, in Adairsville, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie O’Hearn Sperring. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George Strahan, and sons, Nelson Strahan and Walter Strahan. Mrs. English was the widow of Charles English.

She was a member of the Loyal Order Eastern Star, where she served as worthy grand matron. Mrs. English was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church, Daughters of the Nile, and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Strahan and William W. Hall of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Alesandra G. Hall of Northport, N.Y.; grandchildren, Lorinda Crane, William S. Hall, and John C. Hall; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, and Drew; and two nieces, Marie and Margaret, both of Jacksonville, Fla.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.
