Joanne Dove Calvert, of Oak Hill, died Nov. 21, 2012, at the age of 82.

Joanne was born on Oct. 2, 1930, to Ivan Allen Dove and Dorothy Saum Dove of Bradenton, Fla., where she grew up. Joanne moved to Athens and became a dental hygienist, which she did in Athens for 17 years, then Clarkesville, until she retired. Then she met and married Harry (Bud) Calvert and spent the rest of her life in the wonderful Oak Hill community. At Oak Hill, she volunteered for the hospital and sang in the Bed Pan Band. She had a passion for the game of bridge and enjoyed the fellowship of her local bridge club. Many friends and family have been entertained at their home fishing off the dock, boating or just enjoying the scenery. Joanne enjoyed nothing more than being a good hostess. She was a kind and gentle soul with a respect for all living things. It was fitting that she passed peacefully at her sanctuary on the inner coastal waterway.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Harry (Bud) Calvert, and her brother, Jack Dove.

Survivors include her brothers, Jerry Dove (Judy) and Bill Dove (Shirley); sons, Mark Arnold (Rene) and John Arnold (Angel); daughters, Dorothy Murphy (Jim) and Carol Monday (Ron); and 10 grandchildren. She had a beloved extended family and many dear friends throughout her life.

The family celebrated her life from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at their home.

A special thanks to John, Carol and Angel for all that they have done.

From her children, Dorothy, Mark, John and Carol, we love you Mom. You will be missed!

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please surprise someone with a bouquet of flowers. Joanne would want it that way.
