A celebration of life service for Carolyn Phillips Jones, 67, of Cornelia, was held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.

Mrs. Jones died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born July 8, 1945, in Wartburg, Tenn., she was a daughter of Macel Griffith Phillips of Wartburg, Tenn., and the late Jesse Edward Phillips.

She was a very loving daughter, devoted mom, doting Maw Maw and caring friend. She loved playing Bridge, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Jones was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Kinder “Jim” Jones Sr.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Andy Weyenberg of Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, James K. “Jay” Jr. and Sabrina Jones of, Braselton; brother, Charles David Phillips of Clinton, Tenn.; sister, JoAnn Pass of Hampton; grandchildren, Sydney and Kinder Jones of Braselton, Katelyn, Drew and Jake Weyenberg of Cumming; many other friends and other relatives.

The family respectfully requests memorials be made to the American Red Cross, Northeast Georgia Chapter, 675 White Sulphur Road, Suite 230, Gainesville, GA 30501; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
