Funeral services for Nancy Paralee Allen Burton, 74, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Trotter and the Rev. Kenneth Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Burton died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the home of her daughter following an extended illness.

Born Feb. 27, 1938, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late James Roy and Willa Eller Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Burton was a loving wife, mother, granny and was known as “Aunt Sister” or “Granny” by friends and family. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jody Burton of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sue Burton of Cleveland; sons, Randy Burton and Stanley Burton, both of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Stacy Jones of Clarkesville; daughters, Faye Gordon of Clayton, Tammy Armour of Demorest; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
