A memorial service celebrating the life of Daryl Leland Hoh, 74, of Demorest, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at The Highlands United Methodist Church, 3678 Cleveland Highway, Gainesville, with the Rev. Jeff Coleman officiating.

Mr. Hoh went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Aug. 9, 1938, in Appleton, Wis., he was a son of the late Leland and Gladys Glasier Hoh.

He was a United States Army veteran, having proudly served his country in Military Intelligence. Mr. Hoh was heavily involved in mission work for many years, helping train pastors around the world with Faith Life Ministries. He enjoyed living in Georgia for the last 20 years and was also the CEO of Caleb Consulting for the last eight years. Mr. Hoh enjoyed sailing and was an avid Civil War enthusiast. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and was a member of The Highlands United Methodist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Karen Toncre Hoh of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and James Frericks of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Mary Elizabeth and the Rev. Mike Thomas of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Jill Hoh of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, LaVahn and Mary Frances Hoh of Louisa, Va.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, the Rev. Westley and Esther Toncre of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Sgt. Nathan Shaffer, Ryan Shaffer, Lauren Shaffer, Erin Shaffer, Colin Shaffer, Ian Shaffer, Matthew Hoh, Jordan Hoh, Erica Hoh, Emily Thomas, Spencer Thomas and Gracen Thomas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Hoh family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests all donations be made in Daryl Hoh’s memory to Faith Life Ministries, c/o Barry Voss, 12000 Leeward Walk Circle, Alpharetta, GA 30005.
