Funeral services for Betty Cook Ballew, 83, of Clarkesville will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 16, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Stowe, the Rev. Furman Lewis and the Rev. Billy Beard officiating. Burial will follow the service at 4 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.

Mrs. Ballew died Jan. 14, 2013, at her residence.

Born June 5, 1929, in College Park, in the Red Oak Community, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Beaulah Mae Holland Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hershel Ballew.

Mrs. Ballew a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where at one time she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of The Golden Club. Mrs. Ballew retired from Walmart.

Mrs. Ballew is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Dean Yarbrough of Clarkesville, Phyllis and Rick Gaddy of Tyron; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Leighane Ballew of Clarkesville; grandchildren and their spouses, Candi and Josh Coffman, Amy and Joshua Butts, David and Brittany Ballew, Wendy and Stephen Cain, Jim and Michelle Gaddy; and grandsons, Joseph “Red” Yarbrough and Luke Ballew; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
