Funeral services for William Arthur Chastain, 70, of Cornelia, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Level Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell, the Rev. Brian James and the Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Burial followed in Level Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Chastain died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Dec. 22, 1942, in White County, he was the son of the late Barnett and Dora Mae Adams Chastain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Connor Andrew Dyer; brothers, James Chastain and Howard Chastain; and sisters, Emily Bloodworth, Sarah Brooks and Brenda Chastain.

Mr. Chastain was retired from Schnadig with 20 years of service as a truck driver and was a member of Good News Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed automotive work, cutting grass, rocking on his front porch, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Diane Erwin Chastain of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Crane, Michele and Shawn Chitwood, Sheree and Brian Irvin, all of Cornelia, Melanie and Bryan Dyer of Clarkesville, and Daphnie and Michael Barron of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Laren Chastain of Cornelia; granddaughter, who was raised in the home, Katrina Ansley of Cornelia; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Coleman Chastain of Sautee; sisters, Bethina Bacon of Suwannee, Jewell Brookshire of India Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Joan Cole of Kleen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
