Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Sumner, 76, of Baldwin are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dena S. Bearl officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today, Feb. 20.

Funeral services and burial will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 23.

Mr. Sumner died February 17, 2013 following an extended illness.

Born March 4, 1936, in Dade City, Fla., he was the son of the late Robert L. and Dessie Lee Poston Sumner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Diane Elaine Sumner and Amy Josephine Sumner; and brother, Robert Dennis Sumner.

Mr. Sumner was an entrepreneur, having spent much of his career in real estate sales.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Elsie McKinstry Sumner of Baldwin; sons, James Scott Sumner of Tampa, Fla., Kevin Dean Sumner (Stacey) and Louis Todd Sumner (Beverly) of Dade City, Fla., Gregory Chadwick Sumner (Leslie) of Snellville; and daughter, Kristin Sumner Gaffney (John) of Atlanta. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Christopher Sumner, Cody Sumner, Trent Sumner, Ryan Sumner, Sarah Sumner, Laurel Sumner, Ally Sumner, Grant Gaffney and Ian Gaffney; as well as sister, Betty Sumner Filley of Dade City, Fla.
