Funeral services for Irene Carter Goss, 91, of Demorest, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Garvis Kinsey and the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Goss died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at a private care facility following an extended illness.

Born Nov. 10, 1921, in White County, she was the daughter of the late Eddie and Willie Quillan Murray Carter. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Jim H. Goss; brothers, George James, Benny and Edward Carter; and sister, Fannie Chadwick.

Mrs. Goss was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bill Hulsey and Sylvia and Walter Poole, all of Demorest; sister, Sarah Irvin of Demorest; grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Lisa Hulsey and Jason and Julie Poole; great-grandchildren, Brandon Hulsey and his wife, Ashlee, and Bradley Hulsey; and one great-great-grandchild, Braydon Hulsey.
