Robert ‘Bob’ Garbaccio

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Garbaccio, 83, of Mt. Airy, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Purcell officiating. Burial followed the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the Georgia Military Honors Funeral Team.  

Mr. Garbaccio died Saturday, May 25, 2013, following a brief illness.  

Born Aug. 21, 1929, he was the son of the late Livy and Helen Garbaccio of New Jersey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Euline Hunsucker Garbaccio, and grandson, Daniel Nicholson.

Mr. Garbaccio was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He lived 35 years of his life in Habersham County. Mr. Garbaccio was a retired farmer, real estate salesman and he once owned a service station. He was a member of the Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Maxine Nicholson of Clarkesville and David and Dawn Nicholson of Cumming; friend, Jane Boyter of Melbourne, Fla.; sister, Doris Fairclough of Pinehurst, N.C.; nephew, Billy Fairclough and wife Sylvia of Tuxedo Park, N.Y.; great-niece, Morgan Fairclough; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
