Funeral services for Mary Edna Maney Chandler, 89, of Alto, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian James and the Rev. David Moody officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Chandler died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Nov. 19, 1923, in Banks County, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Pauline Chambers Maney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Odell Chandler; sister, Ernestine Blackburn Vandiver; brothers, Coil, Bob, Edgar, Tommy and J.C. Maney.

Mrs. Chandler was retired from Fieldale and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Vancine Chandler of Cornelia; sister, Frances Ellen Chambers of the Hollingsworth Community; grandchildren, Charlene Anderson, Cheree (Tim) Charles, and Lana (Shane) Jones; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
