Funeral services for Ruth Ledbetter Simmons, 84, of Clermont, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday July 7, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Moore and the Rev. Don Underwood officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons was a retired teacher, employed with the Hall County Board of Education, Stephens County Board of Education and Floyd County Board of Education. Mrs. Simmons had a number of hobbies – quilting, crocheting, square dancing, camping, genealogy, reading and bird watching. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of Wesley Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lavada and Billy Anderson of Clermont; son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Amy Simmons of Clermont; sister, Betty Long of Germantown, Tenn.; grandchildren, Stephanie Gunter of Arlington, Va., Neely Simmons of Palatka, Fla.; Eric and his wife Kayla Gunter of Statham; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kayla Gunter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks and appreciation go to beloved caregivers, Carolyn Williams and Debbie Jarrard, and for the compassionate care and attendance of Ruth Halcyon Hospice team.
