Funeral services for Sara Jane Standridge Howard, 73, of Cornelia, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Devin Gore officiating. Burial followed in the VFW Memorial Park Cemetery in Demorest.

Mrs. Howard died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.

Born Feb. 5, 1940, in Jackson County, she was a daughter of Inez Wier Standridge of Loganville, and the late Summie Standridge. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Junior Howard.

Mrs. Howard was retired after many years of service with McDonald’s Restaurant and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church of Cornelia.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Jean and Dan Mashburn of Homer; Sandra Elaine and William Turner of Cornelia; son, Greg “Spot” Patrick of Cornelia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita and Charles Carruth of Cornelia, Marie and Verlyn Barker of Athens, Venell and Thomas Casper of Monroe; grandchildren, B.J. Rice, Dayton Hall, Damien Turner, Taylor Coker; great-grandson, Blaze Coker; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
