Funeral services for Franklin J. Glore, 70, of Mt. Airy, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Brian Stephens officiating. Burial followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Glore died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

Born Aug. 18, 1943, in Mableton, he was the son of the late Rev. E.W. and Ollie Mae Queen Glore. He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Michael Stancil; sister, Jane Sewell; and brother, Willie R. “Bill” Glore.

Mr. Glore was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and a member of the Adult Men’s III Sunday School class. He is also a member of Clarkesville Masonic Lodge No. 325 F&AM, and Royal Arch, where he was very active. Mr. Glore was the former police chief for a number of years with the city of Cornelia, a former police officer with the city of Clarkesville, and was a retired deputy sheriff with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Department. He loved gospel and country music.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary L. Glore of Mt. Airy; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Gina and Herbert Owen Jr. of Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, Robert S. “Bob” and Ramona Glore of Toccoa; grandchildren, Brian Owen, Brandi and Kyle Wilbanks, all of Mt. Airy; great-grandchildren, Owen Wilbanks and Emory Wilbanks, both of Mt. Airy; caregivers, LeLanda Davis, Terri Parr, Daniel Kellar and Jimmy Wheeler.
