Funeral services for Stella Mae Burrell Norton, 82, of Mt. Airy, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Camp Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. James Lyons and Dr. Bill Barrs officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Norton died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Jan. 21, 1932, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Johnathan “John” Burrell and Frances Maybelle Loudermilk Burrell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Norton; brothers, Lloyd and Bill Burrell; and sisters, Senna Starr and Minnie Shore.

Mrs. Norton retired from Clarkesville Mill with 27 years of service. She was an active member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marsha Norton of Mt. Airy and Douglas and Sue Norton of Alabaster, Ala.; grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Norton, Charles (Lisa) Norton, and Eric Norton; great-grandson, Chase Norton; brother, Garnett Burrell of Clarkesville; sisters, Monteree Norton of Toccoa, Irene Poole of Chamblee, and Wilma Mullinax of Mt. Airy.
